Dr. Liou earned his bachelor of science in biomedical engineering from Northwestern University. Strive to become a humanistic physician who not only practices cutting edge medicine but also makes most ethical decisions, he completed a master’s degree in biomedical ethics at Case Western Reserve University before embarking on his medical journey at Nova Southeastern University, where he obtained his medical degree with honors. Dr. Liou then trained as a neurologist at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and subsequently completed his Sleep Medicine fellowship, also at Dartmouth. While practicing as a sleep specialist, Dr. Liou began to explore the link between sleep disorders, autonomic dysfunction, and obesity. This led him to pursue further subspeciality training in Autonomic Disorders and Obesity Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Liou is one of the very few specialists in the world who is board certified in Neurology, Sleep Medicine, and Obesity Medicine. Yet, despite being a super subspecialist, he takes a holistic “whole person” approach when taking caring of his patients. In recent years, Dr. Liou has been working with researchers at Harvard to apply non-invasive neurostimulation to treat insomnia, food craving, headaches, and cognitive decline.

Dr. Liou was on the faculty at Harvard Medical School and served as the medical director of the sleep disorders center and autonomic testing laboratory at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, the flagship teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. Dr. Liou has won awards from the American Headache Society, American Pain Society, American Academy of Neurology, and National Epifellows Foundation. Dr. Liou is a contributor of Adam’s and Victor’s Principles of Neurology 10th ed, the authoritative textbook in the field of neurology. In addition to being an author of multiple research papers, Dr. Liou is also a reviewer for leading international medical journals including Headache, Cephalgia, Annal of Neurology, and Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine. Dr. Liou is frequently invited to speak and moderate at medical conferences nationally and internationally.

Dr. Liou moved to Taiwan in 2014 and continues to apply his expertise in neurology as the foundation to optimize sleep and obesity. He currently lives in Taipei with his family.

睡眠是健康之本

睡眠障礙不只是失眠白天打瞌睡、

開會恍神想睡覺、晚上睡覺打呼、

肢體躁動、枕邊人受到干擾.....

都是睡眠障礙必須盡快就醫!
